DCLM Higher Everyday 27 March 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Reward Of Diligence
Topic: The Reward Of Diligence
Text: Proverbs 12:23-28
Key Verse: “The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute” (Proverbs 12:24).
Message
In a world where laziness and indolence are increasingly prevalent, the virtue of diligence stands out as a beacon of hope and a guarantee for success. Diligence is not just about working hard; it’s about working smart and cultivating a mindset that values excellence, precision, and attention to details. There is a reward for every labour in form of money, outstanding recognition, certification and so on.

Today’s text shows us the difference between the life of the diligent and the slothful youth. While the slothful youth is an unwise person who is talkative and lazy, and may end up in hardship and servitude, the diligent one is a prudent person who puts in extra efforts in his or her studies and could emerge as best student among his or her peers. A combination of righteousness and diligence gives you advantages over those who hate the gospel. The way of the sinning youth is rough and hard; it requires repentance from sin and surrendering of life to Christ to come out of bondage, in order to make the difference.
Quote: Make the difference
Challenge: The diligent shall lead.
Prayer for today: Holy Father, make me a diligent youth, in Jesus’ name.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
