DCLM Higher Everyday 13 April 2026 — Forget The Past

DCLM Higher Everyday  13 April 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Forget The Past

Topic: Forget The Past

Bible Reading: Isaiah 43:18-19(KJV)

18Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.

19Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

MEMORY VERSE: “Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old” (Isaiah 43:18).

Message

An adage says, “Your previous errors are supposed to guide you, not to define you.” This remark implies that your past shortcomings should not define who you are. Every mistake you made in the past should be an opportunity to learn, re-learn or unlearn to avoid a relapse into such a grievous past. You should not be demotivated by past circumstances because the Lord Himself has taken over your case and has vehemently declared: “Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old” (Isaiah 43:18).

Dear youth, cheer up; the Lord is on your case. Are you downcast because you could not secure admission to higher institutions after many attempts? Have you been falling and rising in your conviction as a Christian? The secret of coming out of all your predicaments is believing what God has spoken concerning you. Believe His promises and be sure you are in a good relationship with Him. The Lord will show up for you because you are the apple of His eyes and nothing can harm you if you are steadfast in obedience to His word.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord, change my bitter past to a glorious blessing.

CHALLENGE

Nothing is impossible with God.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
