DCLM Sincere Milk 28 April 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Just Judge
Topic: The Just Judge
Bible Reading: Psalms 51:1-7 (KJV)
1(To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba.) Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
5Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
7Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
MEMORY VERSE: “Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightiestt be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.” Psalm 51:4
Message
Lesley and his two classmates were very sad when the Head teacher hastily decided to punish them for breaking the glass window of the school’s store just because they were found playing close to the window. It was later discovered that robbers actually broke into the school’s store the previous night, carting away valuable properties of the school. The accused and the witnesses, who know the truth, are very often offended when a judge passes a wrong judgment. On the other hand, when someone is punished for the offence he had committed, though others in their ignorance, may be defending him or her, he or she would, secretly, not blame the judge.
God is a just Judge and David acknowledged this fact. Nathan, the prophet did not know that the king he was serving and admiring has done evil and covered it up. We should be careful to speak in support or blame people or even God for what we do not know the truth about. God is always just in all His actions.
You must not wait until your sins are discovered. David would have been happy that his sins were hidden from men. He would have appeared good before them. How terrible it is for you to hide you sin from people until it is too late. Look into your life; is there any sin you are hiding from others? Know this that you cannot hide from God, the Just Judge. Repent of your evil doings, go and say sorry to those you have offended. The Lord will forgive you.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Lord, You are righteous in Your judgment, please forgive me all my sins
FURTHER READING
Jeremiah 11:20
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
