DCLM Sincere Milk 8 September 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Knocking On Heaven’s Doors
Topic: Knocking On Heaven’s Doors
Bible Reading: Matthew 7:7-11 (KJV)
7Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
9Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
10Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
11If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
KEY VERSE: “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” Matthew 7:7
Message
Mr. Jerry testified during fellowship of how God answered his prayers. He had a great need that made him to seek for help from different places to no avail. One day, he heard the word of God being preached in a church close to his house. The word touched, transformed his life and gave him confidence to pray and trust God. He then prayed fervently for God’s help. Lo and behold the answer came and he received his miracle.
God loves all His children and He wants them to pray to Him every day. Knocking on heaven’s doors means to pray to God until you receive answers to your prayers. Everybody is allowed to knock on heaven’s doors- both young and old. Jesus has promised to answer- He says “ask and you will receive, seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you”. Have you been knocking on heaven’s doors for your needs? Instead of crying, getting worried, acting rebellious to your parents, it is better to take your problems to God in prayer and He will answer you. What are you waiting for? “Knock and continue to knock until heaven’s door of blessing is opened unto you.”
Dear Lord, answer my prayers speedily in Jesus’ name.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
