24Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
KEY VERSE: “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23
Message
Our Bible passage shows that every human being is made up of three parts -spirit, soul and body. You see your body but, you do not see your soul and spirit. Your body would have been lifeless without your spirit. Our spirits came from the breath of God into our nostrils and we became living souls. Our souls connect our spirits to our bodies.
With our body we feel the physical things happening within and around us. With our souls, we desire, feel and imagine. With our spirit we sense God. When we sin with our bodies, our souls and spirits are equally made dirty. Adam’s body, soul and spirit were holy before he disobeyed God. Sinful boys and girls cannot please a holy and righteous God.
They must repent, turn away from sin and be saved. In addition to salvation, we must go further to experience sanctification and purity of heart. As friends of Jesus, we have to fulfil God’s desire for our sanctification, if we are to make Him happy. Furthermore, Christ’s desire is that your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless- faultless, (without sin) unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Pray and make up your mind to keep yourself pure and godly in thoughts, words, actions and in friendship wherever you find yourself. The coming of the Lord is so near, remain blameless and expectant.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Lord, help me to overcome every temptation and live a righteous life as we await your second coming
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
