DCLM SINCERE MILK 11TH AUGUST, 2021 — THE TENTH COMMANDMENT

📜📜 EXODUS 20:17 📜📜

🔮🔮🔮🔮🔮🔮🔮🔮🔮

🔑📖 Key Verse: “Thou shalt not covet” (Exodus 20:17a).

📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖

This is the last of the commandments that was written on the tables of stone, sent through Moses to the children of Israel. Covetousness is a sin and it is very dangerous.

Covetousness means a strong desire to have what belongs to another. It is an ungodly desire that can even lead to the murder of the owner of the coveted property by the covetous. We can see this from the story of King Ahab and Naboth the Jezreelite in the book of 1 Kings 21:1-15.

King Ahab coveted the vineyard of Naboth, but Naboth refused to sell or exchange his vineyard with him. His refusal made the king very sorrowful and sad to the point that he refused to eat because he wanted Naboth’s vineyard by all means.

Eventually, Naboth was murdered and King Ahab took his vineyard. In this story, we see that Ahab did not want any other vineyard except Naboth’s own. This is ungodly and that is why no one should covet that which belongs to another.

It is an ungodly desire to covet other people’s things. You should rejoice with your friends for the good things they have while you pray, work hard and patiently wait for God to give you your own. Never indulge in covetousness, the judgment of God on such people is usually too heavy to bear.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
