TOPIC: Overcome Your Fears [Open Heaven for Teens 5 March 2022]

MEMORISE: For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

READ: Proverbs 3:5-7

  1. Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
  2. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
  3. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Mark 10:32-52 , Numbers 33-35

MESSAGE:

One of the things that God told us two years ago was not to fear. Thus, in spite of the pandemic and uncertainties, we were not afraid because we had confidence in God who had told us not to fear. The fear of the Coronavirus that ravaged the world brought torment in the form of high blood pressure, to many. In fact, many died as a result. A true child of God should not be afraid of anything.

What do you fear? Some young people have the fear of failure, death, poverty et cetera, instead of trusting God while taking necessary actions. Fear has even been modernized and its now called phobia. However, there’s good news: all fears are learned and can be unlearned. Whatever you fear is also afraid of you but you won’t overcome it unless you determine to and ask for help from the Holy Spirit. Today’s Bible reading explains that you don’t have any business with fear. Once you hand over your life to God, He will take care of you. As you keep trusting in Him, you will outgrow fear and it will give way to faith.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please take away the spirit of fear and give me that of boldness and power.

HYMN: ‘TIS SO SWEET TO TRUST IN JESUS

  1. ‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
    Just to take him at his word;
    Just to rest upon His promise,
    Just to know, “Thus saith the Lord.

CHORUS
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved him o’er and o’er!
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust him more!

  1. O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
    Just to trust His cleansing blood;
    Just in simple faith to plunge me
    ’Neath the healing, cleansing flood!
  2. Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
    just from sin and self to cease;
    just from Jesus simply taking
    life and rest, and joy and peace.
  3. I’m so glad I learn’d to trust Thee,
    Precious Jesus, Saviour, Friend,
    And I know that Thou art with me,
    Wilt be with me to the end.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
