TEXT: JOHN 4:36-40
36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.
37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.
39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
Key Verse: “And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth” (John 4:37).
MESSAGE:
Often times, for every fruit you see or have eaten, different people worked to make it available. The person that planted might not necessarily be the one that watered it and harvested it. This also applies to winning souls for Jesus.
When someone becomes born again, the person that led the sinner to Christ may not be the only person that was involved. Some people possibly prayed for the salvation of the child, someone else might have given the sinner a tract before or invited him to church, or even preached to him. Every effort counts.
Don’t be discouraged when you speak to someone about the love of Jesus, and the sinner did not immediately repent and become a friend of Jesus. Keep praying for the person and make use of the opportunity you have to talk to others. Every effort is very important.
You must have a strong desire to see children get saved. Pray for someone to be saved. Give out a tract. Go out and tell sinful boys and girls that Jesus saves and wants to forgive them. Invite someone to church. Be an example of an obedient Christian. The Lord will help you to be true to your decision.
Prayer: Lord, please use me for Your glory. Give me boldness to preach the gospel to sinners.
Further Reading: John 9:4, 5
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
