TOPIC: GOD’S EAR IS NOT HEAVY
TEXT: ISAIAH 59:1-4
2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.
4 None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.
Key Verse: “Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear” (Isaiah 59:1).
MESSAGE
God is great and gracious, He is rich in mercy and compassion. He loves us and wants us to have close fellowship with Him. He has provided all good things for His children through Jesus Christ. Therefore, we should have nothing to worry about.
But, sometimes, we discover that our prayers are not answered and we cannot enjoy all the rich provisions that God has in store for us. What are the reasons for this? Our Bible passage provides answers to the puzzle. It explains to us that God’s ear is not heavy, He knows and hears everything we say and do. Therefore, the problem is with us.
There are things that will not make God respond to our prayers. The number one hindrance is sin and wickedness in the heart. Sin is the greatest thing that will make God to turn His eyes or ears away from our prayers.
God hates sin and He cannot accommodate It. His eyes are too pure to behold sin. The Psalmist knew this as he declared “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me” (Psalm 66:18). The only prayer of a sinner that interests God is the prayer of repentance.
Other reasons for unanswered prayers include: unbelief, unforgiving spirit, praying for something with wrong motive, selfishness and other bad things. If you have any of these, repent now, and God will answer your prayers.
Prayer: Lord, cleanse me from all sins, and take away from my life anything that can hinder my prayers.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
