TOPIC: THE DANGER OF SIN
TEXT: 2 SAMUEL 13:10-15
11 And when she had brought them unto him to eat, he took hold of her, and said unto her, Come lie with me, my sister.
12 And she answered him, Nay, my brother, do not force me; for no such thing ought to be done in Israel: do not thou this folly.
13 And I, whither shall I cause my shame to go? and as for thee, thou shalt be as one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, I pray thee, speak unto the king; for he will not withhold me from thee.
14 Howbeit he would not hearken unto her voice: but, being stronger than she, forced her, and lay with her.
15 Then Amnon hated her exceedingly; so that the hatred wherewith he hated her was greater than the love wherewith he had loved her. And Amnon said unto her, Arise, be gone.
Key Verse: “And she answered him, Nay, my brother, do not force me; for no such thing ought to be done in Israel: do not thou this folly” (2 Samuel 13:12)
MESSAGE
A story was told of a six-year-old boy who wanted to have fun by climbing a large tree of 15 metres high. He got stuck on top of the tree and could not come down again. However, he was rescued by firefighters who were invited by his parents.
The story illustrates the attitude of many children today who risk their lives by going into various crimes without considering the danger in them. Like the little boy, they find themselves stuck in great danger that affects their future both physically and spiritually. Our Bible passage shows how Amnon ventured into evil which brought shame and untimely death to him.
As friends of Jesus, you must be careful how you live your life today so that it will not affect you negatively in the future. The consequences of moving with bad friends, looking at pornographic pictures or films, war films, browsing bad sites on the internet, have their effects on many children already. They want to practice everything they see in such sites.
One step into sin if not quickly withdrawn leads to damnation. To be free from sin and danger associated with it, Jesus is the answer. He is the only Saviour that can rescue bad boys and girls from sin like the firefighters did to the six-year-old boy.
Therefore, turn to Jesus as your sin-bearer now, by repenting and confessing your sins to God, asking Him to forgive and cleanse your heart with the blood of Jesus. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I repent of all my sins, save and keep me till the end.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
