DCLM Higher Everyday 1 August 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — A Battle Line Drawn
Topic: A Battle Line Drawn
Text: Genesis 3:9-15
9And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
11And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
12And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
13And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
14And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
Key Verse: “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel” (Genesis 3:15).
Message
On June 17, 1812, the US Senate approved a House-passed resolution declaring war with Great Britain. According to the text of the declaration, “…the President of the United States is hereby authorized to use the whole land and naval force of the United States to carry the same into effect…” A declaration of war is a formal act by which one state announces existing or impending war activity against another.

In our text today, notice is given of a perpetual quarrel commenced between the kingdom of God and the kingdom of Satan: war is proclaimed between the seed of the woman and the seed of the Serpent. According to this declaration, there is going to be a continual conflict between God’s people and Satan. Heaven and hell can never be reconciled. This war will continue while there is a single godly man on this side heaven, and a wicked man on this side hell. The outcome of the conflict is already determined. Good will triumph over evil. On which side of the conflict do you belong?
Quote: Good will triumph over evil.
Challenge: Heaven and hell can never be reconciled.
Prayer for today: I pledge allegiance to the Lamb.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
