DCLM Sincere Milk 17 June 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — A Beautiful Temple

TOPIC: A Beautiful Temple

TEXT: 2 Chronicles 7:19-21

19But if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them;

20Then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations.

21And this house, which is high, shall be an astonishment to every one that passeth by it; so that he shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and unto this house?

KEY VERSE: “And this house, which is high, shall be an astonishment to every one that passeth by it; …” 2 Chronicles 7:21a

MESSAGE

It is common to find adults and children boasting of how big and beautiful their church auditorium is. We make such boast because we are ignorant of what God really wants. It is the people who worship in it that make the temple beautiful. If the temple or church building is most beautiful and those who worship there are disobedient and sinful, then that church becomes the ugliest before God.

In our Bible passage, God gave a warning concerning the beautiful temple Solomon spent years to build for Him. Do you know that God later rejected and caused that temple to be destroyed? This was because Solomon and his people, Israel, who worshipped therein became ungodly and immoral. God is more interested in the people than the temple. God does not live in temple made with hands. Friends of Jesus are God’s temple. Prepare your body as a sanctuary, pure and holy, right and true, clean and free from every stain of sin for your Lord. If Jesus lives in you now, then you will live with Him in heaven.

PRAYER: Lord, please help me to keep my heart pure, an acceptable dwelling place for You.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
