DCLM HIGHER EVERYDAY 20 DECEMBER 2021 — A Lesson for Loafers
DCLM Higher Everyday 20 DECEMBER 2021 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi —A Lesson for Loafers
TOPIC: A LESSON FOR LOAFERS
TEXT: 2 THESSALONIANS 3:6-15
6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.
7 For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;
9 Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.
10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
13 But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.
14 And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.
15 Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
MEMORY VERSE: “For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread” (2 THESSALONIANS 3:11, 12).
MESSAGE:
Abraham Lincoln said, “My father taught me to work; he did not teach me to love it.”
Loafers are idlers and loiterers; they do not like to work. They are people who are not serious-minded. They have no visions and therefore no goals, no achievements.

Thomas Edison, who experimented ten thousand times with different materials before getting the right filament that produced the incandescent light bulb said, “God gives every bird its food, but He does not throw it into its nest.” That is a great lesson.

QUOTE: Do not be a loafer.
CHALLENGE: How usefully engaged are you?
PRAYER: Lord, rid me of the loafing spirit.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
