DCLM Higher Everyday 7 March 2025 — A Life Of Lukewarmness

DCLM Higher Everyday 7 March 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiA Life Of Lukewarmness

Topic: A Life Of Lukewarmness

Text —Revelation 3:14-19

14And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

15I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

16So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

17Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

18I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

19As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Key Verse: “So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth” (Revelation 3:16).

Message

The Lord Jesus would like to have His followers fervent in spirit serving Him instead of being cold or lukewarm. Ravi Zacharias stated that, “Lukewarmness is not a permanent state. It will either grow into a deeper faith or it will cool off into a complete lack of faith.” Lukewarm Christians prioritize earthly possessions and values in worship. They are proud of their riches, promotions and fame. They are not excited at the spiritual revival going in a Bible Church. They feel bored by programmes that exalt evangelism, holiness and heaven.

Life in this corrupt world may be inviting but at the cost of the abundant life in Christ. Judas Iscariot was a lukewarm disciple before he sold his Master. When the chips were down, he started missing fellowships with Jesus and His disciples, and began consulting with the Jewish leaders. Are you also lukewarm? You are, if you are often busy browsing or texting on your phone while others are listening to the preacher. Yes, you are if you consistently miss or go late to the fellowship of believers. Pray for personal revival.

Quote: He started missing fellowships

Challenge: Choose now – cold or hot?

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to remain faithful and fervent in spirit.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
