DCLM Higher Everyday 14 November 2025 — A Strong Cry For Sight

DCLM Higher Everyday 14 November 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — A Strong Cry For Sight

Topic: A Strong Cry For Sight

Text: Mark 10:46-52

46And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.

47And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

48And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

49And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.

50And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.

51And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.

52And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

Key Verse: “And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me” (Mark 10:48).

Message

Blind Bartimaeus believed that this could be his only chance to be healed of his blindness, and was determined to meet the only one that could make him see. This encounter with Jesus in the city of Jericho teaches us valuable lessons about faith, persistence and power of God to transform lives. He demonstrated remarkable faith and persistence in seeking Jesus’ attention. Despite the crowd’s attempts to silence him, he cried out even louder, recognizing Jesus as the Son of David and the source of the miracle he needed.

We also see that Jesus, moved by Bartimaeus’ cries for mercy, stopped and called for him to be brought forward. This demonstrates Jesus’ compassion for those in need and His willingness to respond to their cries. Bartimaeus’ prayer was simple and specific. He asked Jesus to restore his sight, and his request was granted immediately. As you cry out, your cry shall attract heaven’s response in your situation in Jesus’ Name.  Be specific in prayer and let your request be in line with the word of God.

Quote: He cried out even louder

Challenge: Always trust in God’s ability.

Prayer for today: Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
