Topic: Accepting The Gift Of God

Text: John 1:6-12

6There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

7The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

8He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

9That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

10He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

11He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Key Verse: “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” John 1:12

Message

The story was told of a prisoner who had been condemned. He was waiting for the death sentence to be signed by the president. A day came when a new president was elected. This new president reviewed the death sentence and decided to grant the condemned man a presidential pardon. Many are already aware of the provision of salvation that God has made for them. Yet, they will rather continue in their sinful ways than to accept Jesus Christ, the free gift from heaven to all mankind. Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour came into the world to save all sinners from sin and its effect. But as free as the gift of God from heaven is, He will not force it on anyone except you voluntarily receive Him into your heart. All you need do is to tell Him that you are sorry for your wrong doing. Confess those sins to God. Ask for forgiveness and cleansing of your sin. Then ask Jesus into your heart to be your Personal Saviour and Lord.

Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, I accept You as my Personal Lord and Saviour.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
