TOPIC: ALPHA AND OMEGA

BIBLE TEXT: REVELATION 1:7-18

7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

9 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.

10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,

11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;

13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;

15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.

16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.

17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:

18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

KEY VERSE: “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty” (Revelation 1:8).

MESSAGE

Jesus Christ is the First and the Last. He said in the book of Revelation chapter 1 “I am the Alpha and Omega”. Alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet while Omega is the last. He has no equal among men.

Jesus was at the beginning of all things and will be at the close. He has always existed and always will exist. Jesus Christ as the second person of the Trinity brought about the creation of all things. Jesus has no beginning, neither will He have an end. He is from everlasting to everlasting.

Jesus Christ is the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last in so many ways.
(a) He is the “Author and inisher of our faith,” signifying that he began the work of our salvation and carried through to completion.
(b) He is the totality, the sum and substance of the scriptures.
(c) He is the fulfilment of the law and the only subject matter of the entire gospel message.
(d) He is found in the first verse of Genesis and in the last verse of Revelation.
(e) He is the Author of eternal life.
Now He stands at the door of your heart. Open up to Him so that He can enter in to give you salvation. Do not reject His call. He is willing and ready to save you.

PRAYER: Lord I surrender unto You, be the Alpha and Omega of my life.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
