DCLM HIGHER EVERYDAY 25 September 2022 — Appearance also matters
DCLM Higher Everyday 25 September 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Appearance also matters
TOPIC: APPEARANCE ALSO MATTERS
TEXT: GENESIS 41:9-15
10The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
11Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass’s colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:
12His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.
13Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea; and he shall be for an haven of ships; and his border shall be unto Zidon.
14Issachar is a strong ass couching down between two burdens:
15And he saw that rest was good, and the land that it was pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant unto tribute.
MEMORY VERSE: “Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh” (GENESIS 41:14).
MESSAGE:
In the debate between aptitude and appearance, there can be no winner. Try to imagine Joseph coming before Pharaoh without a presentable appearance. Would he have stood a chance to even demonstrate his talent, even though it was his talent that made him to be invited by Pharaoh in the first place?
“Your wardrobe can be your passport for success,” said Walter Mercado. “What you wear to a new job or an audition can be of great impact and open doors for you. If you possess talent and faith in yourself, and wear clothing that enhances your personality, you have a 50 percent chance of winning or gaining whatever you’re seeking,” he added.

Youths who are sloppy in their appearance are generally below average in other areas too. If you dream of one day standing before kings and great men you had better start learning to fit in their company. Talent, godliness and good personal grooming will take you to the top. A neat appearance with a pure heart is your power statement to the world.
QUOTE: A neat appearance with a pure heart.
CHALLENGE: Would you rather be clean or comely or both?
PRAYER: Keep me clean within and without, Lord Jesus.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
