Topic: Avoid Jehoshaphat’s Mistake – Part 2
Text: 2 Chronicles 18:1-4
1Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, and joined affinity with Ahab.
3And Ahab king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat king of Judah, Wilt thou go with me to Ramothgilead? And he answered him, I am as thou art, and my people as thy people; and we will be with thee in the war.
4And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day.
Key Verse: “And Ahab king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat king of Judah, Wilt thou go with me to Ramothgilead? And he answered him, I am as thou art, and my people as thy people; and we will be with thee in the war.” 2 Chronicles 18:3
Message
God does not expect His children to associate with wicked people. Being a loving God, He wants us to bring sinners to Him but not to partake in their evil deeds. In the passage today, King Jehoshaphat, the righteous king went into friendship with the evil and unrighteous King Ahab. Their association is like light and darkness.

Despite been warned by Prophet Micaiah, Jehoshaphat still went to the war with Ahab. It was by divine intervention that he was not killed at the war front. Bad association is dangerous to our spiritual wellbeing. Believers are to be careful in their association with unbelievers. Sinners can be cunny and dangerous in their ways. Let the spirit of God be your guide at all times. Always use every opportunity you have to preach the gospel to sinners around you.

Prayer for today: Lord, help me not to join association with wicked people
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
