DCLM Sincere Milk 28 March 2023 — Awake to righteousness
DCLM Sincere Milk 28 March 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Awake to righteousness
TOPIC: Awake To Righteousness.
Text — 1 Corinthians 15:28-34
29Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?
30And why stand we in jeopardy every hour?
31I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
32If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantageth it me, if the dead rise not? let us eat and drink; for to morrow we die.
33Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
34Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.
Key Verse: “Awake to righteousness, and sin not …” 1 Corinthians 15:34a
Message
To be awake is to be alert, it also means to be watchful. It is not a time to sleep or slumber. Anabel was very excited when her dad informed her that they will be traveling abroad for holidays during her long vacation. She began to prepare ahead, putting all the necessary things in place so as not to forget anything. The day before the trip, she could not sleep as she was awake throughout the night waiting for the morning to break so they can embark on the journey. Finally, she got to the airport on time and boarded her flight to their destination.
The Bible tells us the story of the wise and foolish virgins, why were some of the virgins foolish? It was because they did not make adequate preparation for the journey. The oil in their lamps was not enough, in the process of going to get oil, the master came to take them home and they were left behind.
Do not be like the foolish virgins who did not make preparation for their journey to heaven. Be like the wise virgins and also like Anabel in the story who made adequate preparations for her journey.
This is not the time to sleep or slumber in sin because no one knows when the trumpet will sound, and if the trumpet sounds and you are not prepared, you will end up in regret. To avoid regret, what kind of preparation are you to make? It is very simple, you must realize that you are a sinner, confess your sins to Jesus, promise never to go back to them anymore, and finally keep yourself holy in readiness for Christ’s coming.

Prayer for today: Lord, I surrender my life to You, keep me fit for the rapture.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
