19Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked;
20For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.
21My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:
22For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?
Key Verse: “My son, fear thou the Lord and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change” (Proverbs 24:21).
Message
To be reliable entails being consistent, credible, and dependable in carrying out one’s duties and responsibilities. Being someone others can rely on is a trait that is necessary for establishing and sustaining strong and healthy relationships in all spheres of life. The reliability of any service provider is seen in the quality of its services, and only its clients can vouch for that. What kind of Christian are you? Are you trustworthy to the individuals you interact with every day? Can they rely on you? Above all, can God rely on you?
Today’s reading provides insight into how to live a good life. It advises one not to get envious, angered, or disappointed by the activities of terrible individuals because they will not live forever. Instead, we should concentrate on doing good deeds, trusting and delighting in the Lord, and we will find fulfillment and satisfaction in life. People may doubt your integrity as was the case of Potipher who believed the lies of his wife against the holy Joseph. Yet, regardless of the acts of others, being consistent in leading a moral life brings peace and happiness.
Quote: Can God rely on you?
Challenge: Avoid those who are given to change, be reliable.
Prayer for today: Help me Lord to be trustworthy and lead an upright life. Amen.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
