Topic: Beauty For Ashes
Text: Isaiah 61:1-4
1The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
3To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
4And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.
Key Verse: “To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.” Isaiah 61:3
Message
Throughout the Bible and ancient practice, ashes have often been the symbol of deep repentance and grief. The deeper truth that shines through every bit of our grief, and pain, and sin, is this, Christ came to set us free, to redeem us, and to bring hope. Christ came to bring the beauty from ashes. He is not willing that you remain in sin, pain, or sorrow.

There is beauty and greatness behind every mark of darkness. The ashes will fall away, they don’t stay forever, but His greatness and glory shine forever through every pain and trouble we have struggled with. Jesus conquered death, He lives forever, He reigns in glory. And we have victory through Him.
Be rest assured because Christ is greater than any enemy we may face in this life. We overcome because He has overcome and our lives are hidden in Christ. Put your trust in Christ and He will bring you healing, joy, comfort, peace and beauty.

Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, please turn my sorrow to joy and give me beauty for ashes instead of ashes.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
