DCLM Sincere Milk 2 December 2022 — Beginning of Miracles

DCLM Sincere Milk 2 December 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Beginning of Miracles

TOPIC: BEGINNING OF MIRACLES

TEXT: JOHN 2:1-11

1And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:

2And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.

3And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.

4Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.

5His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

6And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.

7Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

8And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.

9When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,

10And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

11This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

Key Verse: “This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him” (John 2:11).

When a good thing begins, it offers so much hope and relief. When in March 1876 Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone, it was like a “miracle” to the world. The hope that people will be able to talk to someone thousands of kilometers away as if he is sitting right beside them offered so much relief.

The beginning of Christ’s miracles also marked the beginning of joy and freedom for the oppressed and the needy. Though men have to improve on their inventions over and over again, Jesus’ miracles are perfect and meet the needs of man – body, soul and spirit.

It is wrong to go from place to place looking for miracles without the desire to do the will of God who intervenes in our lives to deliver us from trouble and supply our needs. The greatest and the most important miracle every human needs is the miracle of salvation.

Jesus says it is better for you to go to heaven with one eye and with one hand than to enjoy the miracle of healing and go to hell. All you need do is to repent, confess your sins to God, ask for pardon and cleansing through the blood of Jesus. This step is the beginning of a new life for you.

Prayer: Lord, forgive my sin, cleanse my heart and save my soul.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
