DCLM HIGHER EVERYDAY 25 April 2022 — Beware of false prophets
DCLM Higher Everyday 25 April 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Beware of false prophets
TOPIC: BEWARE OF FALSE PROPHETS
TEXT: MATTHEW 7:15-20
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
MEMORY VERSE: “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves” (MATTHEW 7:15).
MESSAGE:
“A false prophet is a person who falsely claims the gift of prophecy or divine inspiration, or to speak for God, or who makes such claims for evil ends” – Wikipedia.
False prophets and teachers were and are still those who draw inspiration from their personal interpretations of the Scriptures, traditions of men and Satan. They are professing believers who ignorantly or deliberately teach lies to please self and to get material gain. They mix God’s word with personal opinions and human traditions to make their followers live ungodly lives.
The most effective weapon against the onslaught of false prophets and teachers is to have a sound knowledge of the truth, as recorded in the Bible
False prophets and teachers deny essential doctrines of the gospel. They promote loose, careless and licentious living. False prophets and teachers will be punished here on earth and hereafter, in hell.
The only way to escape being punished with false prophets is to turn away from them, turn to the Lord, and abide by the truth. All born again youths must practice and preach the gospel to propagate the truth.
QUOTE: Abide by the truth.
CHALLENGE: Run from falsehood.
PRAYER: Father, open my eyes to discern false prophets.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
