DCLM Sincere Milk 22 November 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Beware of the way of the foolish
TOPIC: BEWARE OF THE WAY OF THE FOOLISH
TEXT: PROVERBS 19:1-5
2Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.
3The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.
4Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.
5A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.
Key Verse: “The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD” (Proverbs 19:3).
MESSAGE:
Benuel was the second son in the family of four children. He was beloved of his parents and all the hope of the family was on him, being the first male child of the family. His father often boasted of him, calling him “the pillar”. He would spend time to warn Benuel of the foolishness of associating with evil and lazy friends. He counseled Benuel saying that his future joy and peace depended on how and whom he spent time with now.
Benuel rejected the pieces of advice from his father calling him “old school”. He chose to obey his “new” friends. Later on, to the disappointment of everybody, in the middle of his year in High School, Benuel’s grade began to drop. His bad friends helped to turn his attention away from his studies to pleasure and betting. Benuel dropped out of school. Now, he is often heard blaming others and even cursing God for his foolishness and stubbornness. But he was the cause of all his present troubles.
It is foolishness to reject godly advice. Such attitude will cause you pain and regret. If you want to enjoy peace and progress in the future, turn away from the foolishness of doing evil and being lazy. Do not follow wrong counsel, let the word of God guide all your actions.
Prayer: Lord, save me from every influence that can ruin my future.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
