DCLM HIGHER EVERYDAY 26 DECEMBER 2021 — Beware of Vengeance
DCLM Higher Everyday 26 DECEMBER 2021 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Beware of Vengeance
TOPIC: BEWARE OF VENGEANCE
TEXT: 1 THESSALONIANS 5:12-15
12 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
MEMORY VERSE: “See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men” (1 THESSALONIANS 5:15).
MESSAGES:

To stop the harassing night calls, the couple decided to change their phone number. But the stalker also changed his tactic by sending them obscene and threatening anonymous letters or mails.

The man also daubed their house with paint and slashed their tyres, making the couple prisoners in their own home and causing them to spend some fortune on security system. They had no idea what they had done to deserve such cruel treatment.
After four months of that unexplained terrorism, they finally found out that the perpetrator was a 53-year-old man, who assumed he was terrorising a man, who had been blackmailing him.

Avoid assumptions and vengeance; they make you hasten to wrong conclusions. Even when you are innocent, always seek peace and reconciliation with offenders. It does not pay to pay back evil for evil, especially as a child of God.
QUOTE: It does not pay to pay back evil for evil.
CHALLENGE: Always do good and seek peace.
PRAYER: Lord, give me a spirit of reconciliation.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
