TOPIC: BIBLE KIDS – ABEL

TEXT: Genesis 4:1-7

1And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.

2And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

3And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.

4And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

5But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

6And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?

7If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

Memory Verse
“And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:”
Genesis 4:4

MESSAGE:

Adam and Eve were the first humans created by God. Sometime after they sinned against God, and were driven out of the beautiful garden of Eden they began to have children. Their first born was named Cain and the second was Abel. The name Abel means “a breath” or “a grassy place.” He was a keeper of sheep (shepherd). At a young age, Abel began to worship the living God.
He was a righteous and sincere seeker of the living God which shows in his offering a worthy sacrifice unto God. God accepted his offering and made it known to him and his brother Cain. The reason for the divine acceptance of his offering was in the state of his heart. Well-doing consisted not in the outward offering but in the right state of mind.

The acceptability depends on the inner motives and godly character of a person offering sacrifices to God. Though Abel was killed by his brother Cain, his blood cried out to God for vengeance. Abel was a type of Christ because the sacrifice he offered points to what Jesus would do for all sinners to gain acceptance before God. In Abel you can find –
Absolute trust in God.

Boldness and courage in standing for what is right.
Extra-ordinary faith in God.
Love for God and His righteous standard.
You are the Abel in this generation, shine forth the light as you live in righteousness and holiness all the days of your life.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
