17That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Message
Timothy was a native of a place known as Lystra. His mother was a Jewess named Eunile, his father was a Greek. The grandmother of Timothy on his mother’s side was named Lois. During Apostle Paul’s first missionary journey to Lystra, God used him to heal a man that was crippled from birth. This miracle led to the conversion of many souls including Lois and Eunice. Both grandmother and mother then taught Timothy the word of God when he was still young.
Timothy believed in the word of God and became a good Christian.
When Apostle Paul returned to Lystra a few years later, with Silas.
Timothy was already a respected member of the Christian congregation as were his mother and grandmother. Based on the recommendation of the believers in the church at that time, Apostle Paul decided to take young Timothy with him as he traveled from city to city, preaching the gospel.
The book of 1* and 2 Timothy were written as apostolic instructions to Timothy. He became a dependable co-laborer and defender of the faith. Timothy’s life shows that he was-

Prayer for today: Lord, give me grace to serve You with my youthful strength.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
