Topic: Brighten Your Corner
Text: Matthew 5: 14-16
14Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Key Verse: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).
Message
Fireflies are nocturnal insects that are noted for emission of light in the evening dusk twilight. This tiny insect’s light glows in darkness. Genuine Christianity cannot be concealed. As the moon reflects sunlight, children of God should mirror Jesus Christ the light of the world. Christ shines His light through His saints in the dark world. As the dawn of a new day dispels the darkness of the night, so does Jesus, the Sun of righteousness, take residence in the believers and all works of darkness disappear. Darkness and light cannot cohabit, so holiness and sin cannot inhabit the same heart. Believers are light that dispels darkness. Let your life be a standing rebuke of a sinful world.

Believers are to shine by living out the Christ-like life in word and deed anywhere we are found. Likewise, we shine by sending out the word of life through preaching of the gospel. Never allow any situation or circumstance to eclipse your light. Matthew 5:14 says, “Ye are the light of the world… A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.”
Quote: Believers are light that dispels darkness
Challenge: Shine more and more.
Prayer for today: Lord, let not my light go out.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
