DCLM Daily Manna 6 January 2022 — Building Godly Institutions
DCLM Daily Manna 6 January 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Building Godly Institutions
TOPIC: BUILDING GODLY INSTITUTIONS
TEXT:PSALM 11:1-7
1 (To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.) In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?
2 For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.
3 If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?
4 The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD’S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.
5 The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.
6 Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.
7 For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.
KEY VERSE: “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (PSALM 11:3).
MESSAGE
The stability or otherwise of society is traceable to the constitution governing its citizens and their institutions. If the provisions of the constitution, produced after wide consultations with the people and critical stakeholders, reflect the wishes of the subjects and are adhered to by all, the polity stands the chance of a healthy and crisis-free existence, even in tumultuous times.
That legal system during the reign of Saul collapsed, with the king becoming a law unto himself. When he chased David throughout the land to kill him, the young son of Jesse had no legal system to appeal to hear his argument of being innocent of Saul’s accusations.

The believer today must however be assured that although the world’s system may lack the right scales and capacity to dispense justice to the dispossessed, with the state actors sometimes supporting the oppressors, God is “in his holy temple…his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.” The righteous are assured that they do not need to despair when man takes law into his hand and jettisons the rubrics of society. God will always weigh in on the side of His (deprived) righteous people.
As David was defiant in the face of overwhelming trials, insisting he will trust in the Lord for deliverance, the steadfast follower of Christ must also depend on God, who shall “rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest” upon the wicked. God is righteous and He will jealously guard the righteous. Repose your confidence in His awesome power to defend and protect you.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: There is no injustice with God.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
