DCLM Higher Everyday 9 May 2025 — Cast Your Cares Upon Jehovah

DCLM Higher Everyday 9 May 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Cast Your Cares Upon Jehovah

Topic: Cast Your Cares Upon Jehovah

Text: 1 Peter 5:6-11

6Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

7Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

8Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

9Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

10But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

11To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Key Verse: “Casting all your care upon him; for He careth for you” (I Peter 5:7).

Message

To have care is to have a troubled state of mind caused by worry or grief. As a child of God, if you worry about anything, it shows that you have no strong faith in Him who is Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent. Jesus Himself said, “I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world” (Matthew 28:20b). What really are your cares? Are they family, health, academic, or financial problems? Whatever the challenge may be, the solution is not in worry but in prayer for appropriate solution. Remember David? He was grieving and worrying about what the Amalekites did to him and his followers. But when he encouraged himself in Jehovah and sought His counsel on the problem, he got the solution through a guided smart action of faith. Hence John Lubbock said, “A day of worry is more exhausting than a day of work.”

Friend, God’s word for you today is, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth upon you.” Is it a loved one that has cares? Like Joseph in prison, give encouragement and help.

Quote: The solution is not in worry but in prayer

Challenge: Pray to Jehovah God about the problem.

Prayer for today: Holy Father, help me to cast my care upon you always.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
