DCLM Sincere Milk 9 February 2023 — Check it up yourself
DCLM Sincere Milk 9 February 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Check it up yourself
TOPIC: CHECK IT UP YOURSELF
TEXT: Acts 17:10-12.
11These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
12Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.
Memory Verse: “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” Acts 17:11
MESSAGE:
Rajiv heard Frank discussing Bible stories with friends around school. Rajiv did not agree with some thing’s Frank said from the Bible because they are not the same with what he learnt in his own religion. The one that confused him most was the fact that simple belief that Jesus Christ died for sinners and rose again from death is enough for God to forgive a child who repents of sin and asks God for forgiveness. He thought that nobody can be truly free from sin.
Frank’s reply was in only few sentences. Of these few sentences, Rajiv closely remembers, “The Bible explains it all. Check it up yourself.”
Rajiv soon got a copy of the Bible. He read and found out the truth by himself. Soon he accepted Christ as the only Saviour from sin.
The experience is so real because he found such inner peace he could not explain. He experienced a new nature that makes him unable to sin any more. The Berean Christians also searched the scriptures and found what they heard about Jesus Christ to be true.
God has not kept secret, His finished work for man to have a life of peace, purity, power and abundance. The Bible contains the plan and how you can enjoy them personally. Check it up yourself through daily reading, searching, studying and meditating on God’s word.

Prayer: Lord, please help me to understand and fulfill all Your plans for me as I read the Bible.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
