TOPIC: CHECK UP WITH YOUR MIRROR
TEXT: 2 CORINTHIANS 13:5-7
6 But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.
7 Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.
Key Verse: “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?” (2 Corinthians 13:5).
MESSAGE:
Rohr hurriedly got dressed and left his house to keep up with a very important appointment. He did not remember to check up with his mirror to know whether he was looking alright or not.
As soon as he got to the bus station, he met his friend, Derek, who was also going for the same appointment. The first question Derek asked Rohr was, “Did you use your mirror this morning?”
The question came from Derek because Rohr was not looking fine. If he had remembered to use his mirror, he would have seen that his hair was not well combed and his shirt buttons were out of place. This shows the importance of the mirror as an household item to check our physical appearance.
The Bible – which is the word of God, is our spiritual mirror. This is why it is very important to use it each day to examine our conduct, lifestyle, language, association and everything we do.
Through the word of God, you will be able to know whether you are being watchful, prayerful, and living a holy life. Constant self-examination through diligent study and meditation on God’s word will help a Christian child to grow to be like Jesus and also get prepared for heaven.
Prayer: Help me Lord, to always check my life through the mirror of Your word so that I can be like Jesus.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
