DCLM Higher Everyday 14 April 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Christian Cleansing
Topic: Christian Cleansing
Text: 2 Corinthians 7:1-3
1Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
2Receive us; we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man.
3I speak not this to condemn you: for I have said before, that ye are in our hearts to die and live with you.
Key Verse: “Having therefore this promises dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit perfecting holiness in the fear of God” (2 Corinthians 7:1).
Message
Paul by inspiration called believers at Corinth, “dearly beloved” of God. These brethren had supposedly come out of sin and the pollution of this world through individual encounter with Christ, the Saviour. When a person repents and believes in Jesus, such a one is transformed from being a sinner to becoming a Christian, dearly beloved of God. The dearly beloved of God has received grace to live a distinctive life due to his relationship with the Saviour, Jesus Christ. The Father has originally expressed His desire to “dwell in them and walk in them.” They are special vessels for God’s glory.

Some of the things that can cause filthiness in your life include deliberately fixing your eyes on objects of temptation, secretly keeping items that can inflame immoral thoughts, always desiring to stay at places that can cause temptation, and indulging in visiting immoral sites on the internet. But the blood of Jesus can cleanse you from all filthiness and make you whole. Plunge into the blood of Jesus now by faith and see His promise come true in your life.
Quote: Plunge into the blood of Jesus
Challenge: Christ Jesus has the power to cleanse your soul.
Prayer for today: Holy Father, cleanse me from all filthiness, in Jesus’ name.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
