Topic: Connecting People With Christ

Text: John 1:35-42

35Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;

36And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!

37And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.

38Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?

39He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.

40One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.

41He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

42And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.

Key Verse: “One of the two who heard John speak, and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ” (John 1:40-41).

Message

There was a noisome uproar of joy in a community when it was eventually connected to the national grid. The community had been in total darkness for years despite the fact that its neighbouring towns were enjoying uninterrupted electricity power supply.

The scenario above describes the life of sinners or communities that have not accepted Jesus Christ, the light of the world, as their Lord and Saviour. They grope in darkness of sin and God’s judgment hovers over them. The Bible text this morning presents a big challenge to all Christians. Just as Andrew connected his brother, Simon Peter to Christ, and Phillip connected Nathanael to Christ, they must strive to connect sinners in their reach to Christ. Through intercessory prayer, personal evangelism, and sharing of gospel messages through the social media, you can connect many sinners in your school and the global community to Christ.

Quote: Strive to connect sinners

Challenge: Connect sinners with Christ through social media.

Prayer for today: Lord, make me a soul winner.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
