DCLM Sincere Milk 19 November 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Corner Stones
Topic: Corner Stones
Text: Psalm 144:11-15
12That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace:
13That our garners may be full, affording all manner of store: that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets:
14That our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets.
15Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.
Key Verse: “That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace:” Psalms 144:12
Message
A cornerstone is a ceremonial stone set at a corner of a building, joining two outside walls. Architects usually carve on the cornerstone, the starting and completion dates of construction, the name of the architect, owner of the building, and some other important details. This shows how important a cornerstone is. The prayer of the Psalmist is “That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace:” (Psalms 144:12) This is who God wants you to be as a boy or girl. As a cornerstone, it means you are a person of great importance, you are special.
The Bible describes Jesus Christ as the “Chief Cornerstone” of our faith. As the Chief Cornerstone, Jesus ensures the stability of the whole system of our salvation. He is the solid Rock on which all friends of Jesus stand. Friends of Jesus are the building, while our Lord Jesus Christ is the chief Cornerstone on which the whole building rests. Two things we must learn in today’s topic: (i) As a friend of Jesus Christ, you are expected to possess great spiritual quality. (il) You must always depend on the Chief Cornerstone, Jesus Christ Who cannot fail. He is ever dependable and trustworthy. He will fulfill all His promises. Put your trust in Him at all times.

Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, please, make me a polished cornerstone.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
