DCLM DAILY MANNA 13 AUGUST 2021 — THE HOME NEST OF EVIL
TOPIC: The Home Nest Of Evil (DCLM Daily Manna 13 August 2021)
TEXT: Mark 7:14-23
14 And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand:
15 There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.
16 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
17 And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.
18 And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;
19 Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?
20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.
21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
KEY VERSE: “For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness.” – (Mark 7:21,22)
MESSAGE:
The following quote was taken from Wilbur Smith’s War Cry (Regular series) “Our thoughts make us. They are the silent builders on the temple of character we are rearing. They give colour and form to the whole building. The inner and the outer life will always correspond in the end. A bad heart will work through to the surface. If a man is righteous you know his thoughts are just. Unjust thoughts will never yield righteousness in conduct. Our thoughts fly out like birds, and take their place in the world. Then our heart is still their home nest, whither they will return at last to duel.”

The Pharisees and Scribes, in their usual manner, confronted Jesus in our text about His disciples eating with unwashed hands. Jesus condemned these traditionalist religious leaders who exalt the traditions of men above the Scriptures of God. And when He had called His disciples, Jesus explained to them that the heart is the origin of evil thoughts and defilements.
The heart is the home nest of unclean thoughts and defilements. Sin will first exist in thoughts before it manifests in actions. This is the reason the Lord promised in Scriptures to circumcise our hearts and have His laws written on the tables of flesh to enable us love Him with all our hearts and serve Him acceptably with reverence and godly fear (Deuteronomy 30:6; Hebrews 12:28). When the heart is transformed, the entire life is liberated from inward and outward sins.
After the salvation experience, there will be need to deal with the root of sin, which manifests the sin nature of man. When this second work of grace called sanctification or holiness is done, then the body of sin is destroyed and we can now live triumphantly over the sinful nature.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Remove the roots and destroy evil completely.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
