DCLM Daily Manna 27 October 2021 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Judgment In God’s House
TOPIC: Judgment In God’s House (DCLM Daily Manna 27 October 2021)
📜 TEXT:1 PETER 4:17-19📜
17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
🔑📖KEY VERSE: “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?” (1 PETER 4:17).
MESSAGE:
The story was told of a certain Christian man living in adultery with a married woman. God revealed the matter to his pastor who called him and asked him about it. He looked at the pastor eyeball to eyeball and asked him; “Is it that you do not trust me?” He denied flatly. Again, God told the pastor, “This man is living in adultery.” The pastor called him the second time and asked him, he still denied. This happened three times. One day he went as usual to the woman’s house where they used to commit the sin, (because the woman’s husband used to travel for business). But unknown to them this time, the man did not travel having gotten the hint of what was happening in his absence. He waited in town until he was sure they were together and then came and knocked at the front door. The wife, unsuspecting that it was her husband came and opened the door. The man entered, went straight to the bedroom and with his loaded revolver shot the man twice on the head to end his life.

The teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ and other Scriptures warn continuously of the possibilities of being lost even after one had been saved. Peter, in our text, reminds us of the coming judgment of God which would start at the house of God. “And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?”
Many people today are out of the race because they do not know how to handle some stubborn sins to which they have strong attachment. Unfortunately, the situation in the church today, with all the strife, envy, tribalism, worldliness, prayerlessness, etc., cannot be said to be an ideal one.
Believers must take the warnings of Scripture very seriously. Only those who “endure to the end” will make it. The heaven-bound believer must remain focused, undistracted and sober to finish well.
✍🏽THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: God has zero tolerance for sin.

MEDITATION
THE ULTIMATE JUDGEMENT
1. The Judge
a. The Judge will be Jesus Christ, John 5:22, Acts 17:31.
b. It will start with His saints, v17. This means:
* All will be judged. It is a “must”, v17
* There will be no partiality of favouritism. It will be done faithfully, v19.
* It will be open and transparent.
* The door of mercy will be closed at that time.
* The “sinning saints” and backlidders at that time will have no hope.
* It will be commendation and rejoicing time for true followers of Jesus and condemnation for sinners and hypocritical “saints”.
* Jesus does not and will not joke with justice.
* Every hidden and closed issues on earth, apart from those due to repentance, will be opened again.
* The judgement for all evils in the world is double, one eartly and the other eternal.
2. The Judged
a. Satan and his angels, I Corinthians 6:3. This will be delegated to believers in Christ by Christ Himself. Even on this earth, we have been given power to judge and deal with them. Hope you are using the power
b. Both the righteous and the sinners will be judged, v18.
Q Is it ringing bell in your inner heart that you also will be judged? How prepared are you?
3. The Justice
God manifests his justice in relating with men through
a. His Words, Matthew 12:36,37.
b. His Works, Revelation 21:8, Eccelestics 11:9.
John 5:24, Hebrews 10:17.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
