DCLM DAILY MANNA 28 APRIL 2021 – GOD’S WORD ALWAYS TRIUMPHS

TOPIC: God’s Word Always Triumphs (DCLM Daily Manna 28 April 2021)

TEXT: Jeremiah 20:7-18

7 O LORD, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived: thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocketh me.

8 For since I spake, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the word of the LORD was made a reproach unto me, and a derision, daily.

9 Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.

10 For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, say they, and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, saying, Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.

11 But the LORD is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.

12 But, O LORD of hosts, that triest the righteous, and seest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I opened my cause.

13 Sing unto the LORD, praise ye the LORD: for he hath delivered the soul of the poor from the hand of evildoers.

14 Cursed be the day wherein I was born: let not the day wherein my mother bare me be blessed.

15 Cursed be the man who brought tidings to my father, saying, A man child is born unto thee; making him very glad.

16 And let that man be as the cities which the LORD overthrew, and repented not: and let him hear the cry in the morning, and the shouting at noontide;

17 Because he slew me not from the womb; or that my mother might have been my grave, and her womb to be always great with me.

18 Wherefore came I forth out of the womb to see labour and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame?

KEY VERSE: “Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay” (JEREMIAH 20:9).

MESSAGE:

In the Old Testament, God called some people and gave them the specific task of warning people, communities and nations about the consequences of their evildoings. This assignment was by no means an easy one. It was no surprise, therefore, that along the line, some of God’s messengers voiced out their frustration that the message from heaven was not heeded by the people.

Prophet Jeremiah in carrying out his God-given assignment had cause to vent his frustration. He had faithfully proclaimed God’s word and got nothing but persecution in return. He was torn between depression and his faith in God. He said, “cursed be the day wherein I was born: let not the day wherein my mother bare me be blessed”. He cried out in despair and unburdened his heart to Him.

In spite of these discouraging factors, Jeremiah continued faithfully to declare God’s word. No matter how much he tried, he was not able to suppress the divine message nor pretend it was not given to him. Rather, it became an unquenchable fire in his bones.

Have you ever had God’s word act as fire in your bones? When this happens, you would disregard whatever excruciating pain, suffering and cruel mocking the world might unleash and preach it at all times.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
God releases His grace to counter the attacks we face while working for Him.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
