DCLM DAILY MANNA 7 MAY 2021 — NOT A FABLE
TOPIC: Not A Fable (DCLM Daily Manna 7 May 2021)
TEXT: Esther 9:29-32
29 Then Esther the queen, the daughter of Abihail, and Mordecai the Jew, wrote with all authority, to confirm this second letter of Purim.
30 And he sent the letters unto all the Jews, to the hundred twenty and seven provinces of the kingdom of Ahasuerus, with words of peace and truth,
31 To confirm these days of Purim in their times appointed, according as Mordecai the Jew and Esther the queen had enjoined them, and as they had decreed for themselves and for their seed, the matters of the fastings and their cry.
32 And the decree of Esther confirmed these matters of Purim; and it was written in the book.
KEY VERSE: “Then Esther the queen, the daughter of Abihail, and Mordecai the Jew, wrote with all authority, to confirm this second letter of Purim.” – (Esther 9:29)
MESSAGE:
There are few real-life narratives in history and contemporary times that can match the rags-to-riches story of Mordecai and Esther. Ex-captives in an alien land, the duo suffered double jeopardy as Jews. They were held in contempt and discriminated against as the descendants of Jacob. Finally, their fate, along with the fates of thousands of fellow Jews, was doomed when a decree was signed calling for their extermination.

But the Bible records that heaven intervened so miraculously that Esther and Mordecai who were being threatened and victimised by Haman, a powerful palace personality, found themselves in positions of authority in the court of the powerful kingdom of the day, the Persian Empire. “Then Esther the queen, the daughter of Abihail, and Mordecai the Jew wrote with all authority, to confirm this second letter of Purim.” In the preceding chapter, “the king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it unto Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman” (Esther 8:2).
Truly, God is faithful to His promises. He would not allow the enemy to destroy His people (Exodus 23:22). The Lord used the supernatural elevation of Mordecai and Esther to preserve the Jews in accordance with the Abrahamic covenant that the Saviour of the world would come through the seed line of Jacob.
When fierce storms come to overthrow and destroy us, we should not panic. Rather, we should yield the battle to God as did Esther and Mordecai and watch Him overpower the enemy for us. The sinner or backslider is not helpless when similarly overwhelmed. He should first seek forgiveness. Then he can expect the Lord to deliver him.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
God only steps into a stormy situation when we surrender to Him.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
