TOPIC: Lying Lips
Text: Psalms 120:1-3.
1(A Song of degrees.) In my distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me.
2Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.
3What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue?
Memory Verse: “Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue” (Psalms 120:2).
MESSAGE:
There was an uncompromising final year Christian student in a university who excelled in her academics. As she was heading towards a first-class degree, some of her mates conspired and accused her of examination malpractice. She appeared before the Examination Malpractice Committee. Like David in our text, she was distressed, but remained undaunted and faithful to God during her ordeal. She cried unto God with the support of other Christians. God answered her prayers, vindicated her and she eventually made a first-class degree. What a disappointment for those conspirators with lying lips!
Christian youth, flee from people with lying lips. All liars will end up in hell except they repent. Wellings Calcott said, “Lying is practiced to deceive, to injure, betray, rob, and destroy.” Lying is induced by Satan whose goal is to destroy your Christian faith and testimony. Steer clear of people with lying lips, and remain steadfast in your Christian faith. Be known for truth and honesty at home, school, workplace and community. Witness to unbelieving youths and pray that God will save them from sin and lying lips.

All liars will end up in hell
Prayer for today
Deliver me Lord, from liars and conspirators.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
