DCLM HIGHER EVERYDAY 26 NOVEMBER 2021 — Putting Down the Proud
DCLM Higher Everyday 26 November 2021 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Putting Down the Proud
TOPIC: PUTTING DOWN THE PROUD
TEXT: DANIEL 4:34-37
34 And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation:
35 And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?
36 At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me.
37 Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.
MEMORY VERSE: “Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase” (DANIEL 4:37).
MESSAGE:
A story was told of a young man who was greatly used of God. Overtime, he became so arrogant and unteachable to a point that he stopped listening to his leaders. He finally left his church to become a mobile minister; moving from one church to another to minister.
In one of his ministrations, he proudly said, “There’s a height I’ve gotten to that even God can’t stop using me.” A month later, the same congregation got a report that he was dead.
Prior to our text, God made Nebuchadnezzar a king over the whole realm of Babylon. He was so proud of his achievement that he disdained God. In his proud speech, he boasted that he built the great Babylon without regard to the Giver of wisdom.
For not giving glory to God, and ascribing his breakthrough to his ingenuity, God turned him to a beast to eat with animals for seven years. He later turned around to acknowledge God’s supremacy, and submitted himself to Him.
God expects every youth to submit to His Lordship in true repentance and full acknowledgment of His omnipotence.
QUOTE: Acknowledge God’s supremacy.
CHALLENGE: am nothing without God.
PRAYER:bLord, help me to always acknowledge You in all my ways.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
