Topic: Delight Before Desires
Text: Psalm 37:4-7
4Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
5Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
6And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
7Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
Key Verse: “Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” Psalm 37:4
Message
Don’t you desire or want good things for yourself? We want to be successful, respected, loved, appreciated and recognized. We want to live in peace, be free to do what we want, enjoy our lives, prosper in all we and our parents do, live in a fine house, have good food to eat, be healthy, be secured and safe from all harms. It is alright to desire good things for yourself. But neither the government of the day, our parents nor we ourselves can wholly meet all our needs.

The Psalmist, from his experience, says it is only God that can give you the desires of your heart. But, there are conditions we must fulfill to enjoy God’s goodness. The same Psalmist says in another place: “I delight to do thy will, O my Lord.” (Psalm 40:8). You must delight, take joy or pleasure in doing the will of God at all times. Run away from all evil doings and do what is right before God everywhere you go, pray and believe His promises. Then He will give you the desires of your heart.

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to do what is right before You always and trust You to fulfil all my desires.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
