DCLM Sincere Milk 7 May 2024 — Desire Spiritual Gifts
DCLM Sincere Milk 7 May 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Desire Spiritual Gifts
Topic: Desire Spiritual Gifts
Text: 1 Corinthians 14:1-5
1Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.
3But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.
4He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
5I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.
Key Verse: “Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.” 1 Corinthians 14:1
Message
Christabel loved God so much that everyone around her knew. She became born again at the age of 5. After her conversion, she began to tell others about Jesus; she was also active in the choir. She pressed further and became sanctified. Christabel was never satisfied with her spiritual state as she always desired spiritual growth. A Christian boy or girl who is genuinely born again cannot remain at one level spiritually. You need to desire spiritual gifts so that you can do more for God like Christabel in our story. Never settle for less, always desire spiritual gifts.

There are nine (9) spiritual gifts in the Bible which are: wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discernment of spirits, diverse kinds of tongues, and interpretation of tongues. A sinner cannot desire spiritual gifts. To benefit from these gifts you need to surrender your life to Jesus, after that, you can pray to have them and they shall be yours.

Prayer for today: Lord I desire spiritual gifts so that I can grow spiritually.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
