DCLM Sincere Milk 12 May 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Disqualified From Jesus’ Banquet
Topic: Disqualified From Jesus’ Banquet
Text: Luke 14:16-24
16Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:
18And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.
19And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.
20And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.
21So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.
22And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.
23And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
24For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.
Key Verse: “For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.” Luke 14:24
Message
FIFA is the world soccer governing body. If a country is found to have disobeyed its rules, FIFA has the authority to ban or suspend that country from participating in its organized football event. No country is above FIFA’s rules or sanctions. Many great countries have been barred from participating in FIFA soccer events in the past for a variety of reasons, including not following the rules, unnecessary interfering in football affairs by governments, violence, and so on.

Jesus Christ died on the cross at Calvary to save us from sin and bring us into sweet relationship with God. The sacrifice of Jesus provides invitation for all to God’s kingdom. Believers who follow and serve Jesus to the end will partake in the great banquet. Today’s passage serves as a serious warning to every believer that nobody is too big to be disqualified from the great banquet. This gathering of the redeemed of the Lord in the presence of God on the Last day is what every believer is eagerly waiting for.
Sinners who continue to make excuses for not surrendering their lives to Jesus will be excluded from Jesus’ great banquet. All unserious believers who were invited to the banquet but made excuses and also live careless lives would be barred from God’s kingdom. Pray that you will not be disqualified.

Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, help me to be a partaker in Your heavenly banquet.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
