DCLM Sincere Milk 12 April 2024 — Divine Duties
DCLM Sincere Milk 12 April 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Divine Duties
Topic: Divine Duties
Text: Psalm 119:41-48
41VAU. Let thy mercies come also unto me, O LORD, even thy salvation, according to thy word.
42So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word.
43And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in thy judgments.
44So shall I keep thy law continually for ever and ever.
45And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts.
46I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.
47And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.
48My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes.
Key Verse: “My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes” Psalm 119:48
Message
Duties are assigned responsibilities or tasks to someone by a superior person. In the school, teachers give the students what to do with a specific time to do it, parents also do the same at home. The word of God which is the eternal Constitution reveals the divine duties from God to His creatures.

These divine duties or responsibilities are:
(i) Trusting the word of God. Trusting human words will not achieve much in life.
(ii) Obeying the word of God. The Psalmist makes a commitment that he would obey and keep the word of God always.
(iii) Preaching the word without shame. It is our duty to teach, preach and share the word of God with others with the objective of leading them to the salvation of the Lord.
(iv) Loving the word of God. Jesus said, if we love Him, we must keep His commandments.
(v) Standing for the word of God. We must do this without compromise.
(vi) Meditating on the word of God.
When we are saved through His mercy, His grace flows into our lives and release divine strength to carry out the divine responsibilities acceptably.

Prayer for today: Lord, grant me strength to perform all my divine duties to you.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
