TOPIC: Divinely Secured Victory (DCLM Daily Manna 1 March 2022)
TEXT: Judges 7:9-15 (KJV)
10 But if thou fear to go down, go thou with Phurah thy servant down to the host:
11 And thou shalt hear what they say; and afterward shall thine hands be strengthened to go down unto the host. Then went he down with Phurah his servant unto the outside of the armed men that were in the host.
12 And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude.
13 And when Gideon was come, behold, there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along.
14 And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host.
15 And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the Lord hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian.
KEY VERSE: “And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host” (JUDGES 7:14).
MESSAGE:
To be guided by God is one of man’s greatest privileges. It was heart-warming, comforting and reassuring for Gideon who had experienced the humiliations Israel suffered in the hands of the Midianites, and who himself had a depressing feeling of inadequacy, to hear God speak to him in a night vision saying, “…Arise, get thee down unto the host (of the Midianites); for I have delivered it into thine hand”.

God is ready to guide us in all life battles if we are ready to follow His leading like Gideon. With a limited number of soldiers, this inexperienced military leader of God’s army was led into battle against a formidable host of an enemy nation that had oppressed Israel for more than seven years. To be assured of victory against his foes, Gideon demanded for several proofs from God, which were graciously granted him.
This underscores the place of enquiring from God regarding issues of private and public concerns as believers. Praying to God to obtain answers, divine guidance or assistance should be basic before we undertake any task, whether secular or spiritual. Gideon followed divine instructions diligently and the result of this attitude to God was the resounding successes he had in his encounter with the Midianites. The Lord helped him marvellously until his enemies were completely defeated.
We can enjoy a lifelong record of victories if we make the Lord our Guide and Help. We must also be faithful to His commands and manifest faith for daily victorious life.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
A man or woman of faith is a conqueror.
THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
2 Corinthians 1-4

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
