Topic: Do As I Do

Text: John 13:12-15

12So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?

13Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.

14If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.

15For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

Key Verse: “For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.” John 13:15

Message

People often say “do as I say, not as I do” because it is simpler to tell others what to do than to do it ourselves. Sometimes, we struggle to follow our own rules orhave different standards for ourselves compared to others. Also, some people choose what’s easiest or best for them instead of being consistent in what they say and do.

In our Bible passage, Jesus showed us something really special. He did something surprising – He washed His disciples’ feet! Back then, this job was usually done by servants, but Jesus did it Himself to teach us an important lesson. Jesus wants us to be like Him, loving and kind to others.

As believers, it is important to support others in the church and community. Assist a friend in distress, offer help to the weak, and show kindness to those in need. By serving others, we demonstrate God’s love and show that we are following the Master’s footsteps.

Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, please help me to be humble like you and to serve others.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
