DCLM Higher Everyday 6 December 2024 — Do Not Trivialize God’s Temple
DCLM Higher Everyday 6 December 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Do Not Trivialize God’s Temple
Topic: Do Not Trivialize God’s Temple
Text: 1 Corinthians 6:15-20
15Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.
17But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
18Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
19What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Key Verse: “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own” (1Corinthians 6:19)?
Message
You must be conscious always of the fact that you are a member of the family of God. As such, you belong to Him body, soul and spirit. As a young believer, always remember that God lives on the inside of you. You are His Temple; His Sanctuary; His House. Keep it Clean! That is, it is required of you to keep your body free from sin and every appearance of it – things you listen to, read and watch. “Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God” (Leviticus 20:7). God’s abiding presence makes you invincible, unconquerable and unstoppable. This is who you are as a child of God! Contrarily, His absence makes you vulnerable.

As you maintain the sanctity of His Sanctuary (your body) according to His principles, God will always be “in front of you” (Deuteronomy 1:30); “behind you” (Isaiah 52:12); “over you” (Psalm 139:5); “under you” (Deuteronomy 33:27); “around you” (Psalm 125:2); “in you” (1 Corinthians 6:19); and “with you” (Psalm 46:11). God will eternally bless and honor you on every side in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Challenge: His absence makes you vulnerable.
Prayer for today: Lord, make me a sanctuary – pure, holy, tried and true.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
