DCLM Sincere Milk  12 October 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. KumuyiDo You Hear God

Topic: Do You Hear God

Text: John 10:25-28

25Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me.

26But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.

27My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

28And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

Key Verse: “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: John 10:27

Message

When a mother gives birth to a new baby, she plays with him/her and even speaks to the baby at intervals. Though the baby cannot talk, the mother believes that he/she can hear and would respond as he/she grows. At salvation, we become children of God and can be likened to a new born. Just like a mother speaks to her baby, God speaks to us through different means.

He expects that as we grow, we can hear Him and respond to Him the way He desires. A baby that cannot hear the mother, is at a risk. The same applies to our relationship with God. God is our father and He knows what we need to grow spiritually. This is the reason why we should ask Him questions frequently and also wait to get answers from Him. God desires to speak to us just like He spoke to Samuel in the Bible, but we must also position ourselves and spend time with Him so that we can hear Him.

Prayer for today: Dear Holy Spirit, help me to hear you as you speak to me every day.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
